CERVINIA

DESTINATION INFO:

Cervinia, one of Italy’s leading ski resorts was originally an old climbing village which, over the years, has grown tremendously into a premier ski destination.

Cervinia has access to Europe’s highest slopes, and due to the fact that it is linked to Zermatt in Switzerland as well as to its neighboring Valtourneche, it ensures a long winter season with guaranteed snow. Cervinia offers a ski in/ski out possibility thanks to the slopes descending from the high altitude of the surrounding mountains and ending right onto the streets of Cervinia, like the worldwide famous Ventina piste, or the Cretaz and CieloAlto slopes, all intertwined and connected by the lifts system.

The ambiance of Cervinia village is relaxed and welcoming. Although it is essentially modern in appearance, the center retains a degree of historic charm, while the impressive array of high mountains surrounding the village adds to the overall Alpine feel.

An important fact worth mentioning regarding Cervinia is that everything is in walking distance, so a car won’t be needed for moving around the village. On the main street you will find an array of clothes, shoes and sport equipment shops, bars and restaurants serving amazing Italian food.

Experts:

For the expert skier although there aren’t that many black runs in numbers, there is still plenty to satisfy their needs. One run that certainly shouldn’t be missed is the Ventina, which sweeps down from the 3,480 metre altitude of the Plateau Rosà to the centre of Breuil-Cervinia. Another one worth mentioning is the Reine Blanche, which runs from the Klein Matterhorn (3883 m) down to Valtournenche (1,524 m.). On the Swiss side there is plenty of challenging routes including some very steep runs under the Furi cable car.
