The area of Kitzbuhel in Austria is known to be one of the most legendary locations for sports lovers, as it offers many opportunities for a multitude of winter activities.
The Kitzbuhel ski resort is interlinked via lift, piste and ticket with Kirchberg from the west side and extents south through Jochberg into the Salzburg state at Hollersbach im Pinzgau.
The diverse range of slopes offers the perfect terrain for everyone, from leisurely beginners to advanced winter-sports enthusiasts. Skiers can also take advantage of the 60 mountain huts in the ski area, the perfect place to sit back and take a break from a long day on the slopes.
Kitzbuhel doesn’t only cater to the needs of sports fanatics as its famous for its many apres ski options such as its shopping and wellness. In the village you will find many boutiques and shops as well as many restaurants from Michelin star awarded to small, family run mountain huts, where you can taste traditional Tyrolian flavors. If the night scene is your thing, you won’t be disappointed. There are many stylish bars, pubs, and nightclubs where you can enjoy a cold beverage at the end of a long day on the slopes.
Kitzbühel is still in full swing, when the sun starts to set behind the legendary Hahnenkamm as it’s well known for being one of the most cosmopolitan Alpine resort with vibrant and atmospheric nightlife.
Whether enjoying a cocktail at the bar, a perfectly poured beer in the pub or enjoy one of the many nightclubs, the resort has it all. In fact, there is so much to do that you can keep enjoying the night until the sun comes back up the next day.
You can start at the Pavillion Bar next to Hahnekamm gondola station for a first quick après ski drink before dinner and then you can enjoy the rest of the night in one of the best legendary clubs Take Five with three bars & elegant interior, large VIP area , a wide range of cocktails and resident DJs or Jimmy’s which is very popular to locals .
For foodie lovers, Kitzbühel has a huge variety of restaurants from traditional ones to gourmet establishments, lovely Italian and Asian places to eat. You’ll find lots of lovely Austrian cuisine served on and off the mountains, tasty seafood at 1st Lobster restaurant and for pizza at Centro. There are also lots of highly acclaimed fine dining places such as Neuwirt in Hotel Schwarzer Adler right in the center of the village with gourmet dished and extensive wine list . Not to be missed the Gault Millau Gourmet Restaurant Tennerhof that combines the natural taste of regional specialties with fresh ideas of international cooking.
Many nursery slopes can be found at the bottom of the Hahnenkamm gondola as well as some interesting blue runs in Kitzbüheler Horn, which provide the perfect introduction to skiing with many easy and undemanding pistes such as the long Hagsteina and the Kaser. A beginner zone is also available in the nearby village of Jochberg .
They are on their element and only the sky’s the limit, as they can enjoy 40%-45% percent of the resort’s terrain. The huge ski circuit linked by a fast lift system and free ski bus, gives them the opportunity to discover the beauty of the wooded runs of the Ehrenbachhöhe, the exciting descents of the Kitzbüheler Horn and the Bärenbachkogel in nearby Jochberg. Brave ones can defy gravity and take a run on the World Cup downhill course—the Hahnenkamm, which is accessed via the Hahnenkammbahn from the main base village area.
They can test their limits –aside from the Streif race piste which is claimed to be by some the most difficult ski run on earth (it features in the world cup every January and its sharp turns, jumps, steeps and bumps make it a downhill descent like no other), also at the steep and above the treeline Steinbergkogel and the Ehrenbachgraben sector, ski terrains not to be missed for any reason.
Kitzbühel is snowboarder friendly, as it offers more than 33km of powder for safe freeriding. Heaven on earth for freestylers the DC Snowpark at Hanglalm with lots of jumps, rails and curves for a range of abilities. Also the gap jump is a huge attraction, making the area a regular destination for pro’s . Beginners can practice their first moves at the Mini Snowpark on the Horn. Hidden gem of the ski resort is also the off piste terrain, which all confident skiers will love; there’s 33km of avalanche safe powder and moguls including Hochsaukaser and Lärchenhang .
